COUNTRY: Costa Rica
Even though this little country can fit into Alberta 12 times, its reputation for producing amazing coffee far exceeds its borders! Costa Rican coffee has set the standards for fine wet-processed coffee for the rest of Central and South America.

REGION: Sabalito district of Coto Brus
Coto Brus is a canton in the province Puntarenas and shares a border with Panama. Most farmers in this area produce on less than five hectares of land. Coffees grown in the Coto Brus region generally have a medium acidity and body.

FARM: Hacienda Rio Negro
Hacienda Rio Negro has coffee trees that stretch up the slope even reaching the mountaintops. Down at the bottom of the valley you will find Beneficio Rio Negro, which is the farm’s processing mill. Something to take note of is Beneficio Rio Negro’s cupping lab, this allows them to maintain a very strict quality control. Consumers can rest assured that all the coffee that is shipped out of Rio Negro has to go through quality testing and approval.

Taste

It’s a different taste very mellow and we like to drink it often

A decent Costa Rican bean!

A mild, low acidity cup. The chocolate notes are a bit more subdued compared to higher elevation Tarazzu, with a more earthy finish. Still a nice cup!

Taste pretty refreshingly good with mellowed sweetness

I’m pretty stunned at how good this coffee was a week old versus a month old! I recalled the coffee was pretty blend and weak since I roasted it pretty light. As soon as FC goes, I soaked it in low heat with higher fan speed for like 30-60 seconds until a whiff of caramel aroma hit my nose. The color and the aroma were right. Then drop the beans it goes! A month later, the brown sugar was pretty distinctive with a little tartness in the aftertaste.
Overall, a good cup of coffee which I got it for free from GreenCo if you order over 100 dollars of coffee. I got a 1lb free complimentary Costa Rica coffee Negro 454grams Twice from them since I ordered from them on separate occasions!
